Welcome to the website of the course Mouse Phenotypification 2017.
Date: August 28th to September 1st of 2017
Venue: Instituto de Biología y Medicina Experimental (IBYME), Buenos Aires, Argentina
The course, now in its 4th Edition, is organized under the sponsorship of the Instituto de Biología y Medicina Experimental (IBYME), in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where both the lectures and lab practices will take place.
The course provides a human context to animal lesions and touches upon different methods of morphological validation, that will help us recognize whether an experimental model represents or not what we see in the human disease that we seek to model modeling (see Preliminary Program) .
The organizers and instructors are medical pathologists and researchers with years of experience in the identification of the morphological alterations that characterize experimental mouse models.
We want to share with you basic but relevant concepts of lesions, to keep in mind when human diseases are studied, or when you try to reproduce them in experimental murine models.
It is our interest to help you reach a rational understanding of the pathophysiology of diseases from an integrated view of the anatomy and histology, and histogenesis.
The advent of the new morphology-based technologies, such as confocal microscopy, laser capture microdissection, and slide scanning and quantification, makes this a timely course, not only to interpret the morphological structures, but also to familiarize yourself with the different forms of tissue handling and preservation.
The organization of the course will be almost entirely in the most capable hands of Dr. Silvia Vanzulli (see Organizers).
We will keep you posted as we go by completing the list of classes and instructors.
